James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.”
Often, we can feel far away from God. Maybe we have not spent time in His word. Maybe we have not sought Him in prayer. Maybe we are intentionally walking away from Him.
God desires for us to come to Him, to seek Him and to draw near to Him. If our heart is truly seeking Him, He will draw near to us.
David longed to be near God. Here is his prayer from Psalm 139.
Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24 (ESV)
Other Bible translations say it this way:
“Point out anything in me that offends you…” (NLT)
“See if there is any offensive way in me…” (NIV)
“See if there be any hurtful way in me…” (NASB)
“Investigate my life, O God, find out everything about me; Cross-examine and test me, get a clear picture of what I’m about; See for yourself whether I’ve done anything wrong..” (The Message)
“Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there is any wicked or hurtful way in me…” (Amplified Bible)
Commit today and each day to seek Him with your time and your heart as you serve the body of Christ.
